Foundation for Industrial History of Győr


The Győr Industrial History Foundation, founded in 2005 by the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, set itself the goal of collecting and presenting the industrial history of Győr and its surrounding area.

Although the foundation's main goal is to create an industrial history exhibition that serves both scientific and educational purposes  , it still considers it important to provide  tourists visiting the region with an experience when visiting  an industrial history memorial site .

The website ipartortenet.hu commemorates the industrial past by inviting the interested party on a special  walk .

With the help of our website, you can discover Győr from a new perspective - and vice versa: when you walk  around the city , you will find QR codes  on certain industrial historical buildings or even objects, around old factory buildings  , which you can scan with your smartphone and get information about what you see during your walk.

Industrial History Tour

We invite you to a special walk in Győr, an unusual journey through time!

We commemorate the famous factories of Győr that are no longer in operation, liquidated, or even destroyed to the ground, the diligence and creativity of the people working here, and the company names and products that were previously well-known but are now forgotten.
In several places in the city – primarily around old factory buildings – you will find commemorative plaques placed by the Győr Industrial History Foundation. 

These plaques also contain a QR code, which, when scanned with your smartphone, will take you to our website, including a page containing information about the given industrial history memorial site.

If you would like to visit several memorial sites during a longer walk, we recommend that you choose the routes we recommend, which can be covered on foot or by bicycle!
